Today we said goodbye to Nana and Papa who headed back from Kyoto to Tokyo and then few back to Adelaide via Cairns. After pancakes for breakfast we all caught the bus into Kyoto Station, to have a look around the shops before they caught the Shinkansen to Tokyo and the Narita Express to Narita.
After a couple of beautiful sunny days, we woke to drizzle and so the umbrellas come out. We’re just about used to the Kyoto busses now, and are able to use the change machine to get the correct change before hopping off. Rather than annoying the bus driver with the incorrect change. You board the bus from the middle door and pay as you exit through the front door. But the driver does not give change, and so passengers are to use the change machine to get the correct change before paying the driver.
Our first stop was BIC Camera, which was seven floors of electronics, toys and other odds-and-ends. It was hard work dragging the boys away from Xbox demo system which was set to race a Lamborghini and buggy in Cairns, and Carter found a model Shinkansen to buy.
After a farewell coffee at Starbucks the four of us jumped back on the bus and headed to a pottery experience we had seen a few days earlier. Lewis made a cup and Carter a bowl. It was the first time using a pottery wheel for both of them and they had a great time. They choose their colours and the items will be fired and then posted to us in four to five weeks.
A taxi back to the apartment and we decided to take it easy for the rest of the day. And with the rain still falling, were happy to grab take-out pizza from the Pizza Little Party.
We then settled in to watch the seventh Harry Potter movie together – working our way through the series in preparation for our visit to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios.
